Occupy: Oakland and You

I'm late in posting this, but here goes nothing. I honestly cannot help but admire Oakland's attempt in trying to make a difference. I was angry when I saw the videos and heard what the Mayor had to say. She said she was tired of Occupy using her town as a playground. If Oakland is anything like Montreal, the playground will continue; dispersed into a million little trashed apartments.

Its not Occupy who trashed them, but it is Occupy who will take over the trash apartments already being neglected by landlords and landowners. Everyone in the occupy movement recognised the neglect of tax payers and the working class. No one person can be blamed. Except for Harper, we can always blame the government: They're paid to neglect and focus their attention of those who can bring some girth to our economy.

Occupy isn't paid to do anything they do, yet their movement continues all over the world. How much longer until your teenager joins this movement? How much longer until the neglected citizens of this world decide that they have had enough of this benign neglect? How much longer until you get your shed broken into only to steal the camping material, or your house window broken just for the cigarettes and half eaten peanut butter jars in your pantry? In Canada, thousands of people cannot afford both food and shelter. Occupy Montreal was filled with students, drug users, parents, and people tired of being unemployed just because someone in Parliament decided people who work until they're 67 and those unable to prove their skills should just retire to a neglected home. All this just to have the tents thrown in the trash, and be told to move. So they moved.

These neglected homes, especially those of pensioned elderly, are being abused by Landowners, and ignored by people with the ability to actually do something. Teachers are paid to lecture, and sit at a desk. Their secretaries are being paid to put us on hold, while their asses get so large they must get the University to get a special chair. While this chair's arms swivel outwards to let their fat gluttonous bellies, the arms of the lower class get stronger. Their core strengthens are their spines weaken. Just like the daycare workings raising your kids.

In 2017, the non-negotiable plan of Harper and his goons will take place and our medicare, the pride of our Canadian Heritage will burn. I worry about the state of our nations and the fascist-democracy being supported. I have no children, though I dream of being a mother one day, and yet I choose to keep my uterus empty of the future soldiers of this broken economy.

The young adults of our generation cannot even stay long enough in one dwelling to receive information about where to vote. They do not believe our government is effective and have lost faith in over 300 years of political history our great great grandfathers have build for us.

Those who took bullets, whip lashings, and abused by people too ignorant to even bother speaking a language, because its too complicated. Those who went to war to send home their parents, brothers and sisters, wives; a check that could sustain their pains. Those who smoked cigarettes and drank Coke Cola.

This world isn't that different, except for the indifference my generation shows; an indifference to public art, property, and pain of people. My generation sends a message to the one previous, and it is a noble one: My problems aren't your problems, grandpa.

That is why we occupy. In reality, we all occupy this world and this protest was only to reflect the rot inside. The next time you think Occupy is a joke; imagine a meth user at your doorstep, ready to corrupt your grandchildren. Think about it the next time you suggest your kid has ADD, or something. That meth user is you, your teenager and your significant other. Those taking hydro-morphine are grandparents. Your government is tired of handing you drugs for your indifference. You occupy your dwelling, and can't come up with one answer to your problems. They occupy your old rotting dwelling, because they have no place else to go. And please don't even suggest the homeless shelters; they're full and those who can't get in go to jail.

You're no different then those who marched on Oakland, dear tax-paying-working class. You're just more fucked. Thank you for reading. For more information on the Oakland situation, please click the link provided.
